The Nurturing Program is an evidence-based, trauma-informed, family-centered intervention used with children, adolescents, and their families to build empathy, empowerment, appropriate expectations and roles, and reduce abusive and neglectful practices. It has a corresponding evidence-based assessment tool which enables practitioners to measure progress objectively. The Nurturing Program was developed for high-risk families with the long-term goals of preventing recidivism in families receiving social services, lowering the rate of teenage pregnancies, reducing the rates of juvenile delinquency and substance abuse, and stopping the intergeneration cycle of child abuse.
