Tier 2, or mortar, words are the unavoidable glue in reading comprehension. 30 minutes a week is enough time for students to master research-based vocabulary acquisition strategies, learn 100 crucial Tier 2 words, and recognize them in texts, including assessments. Blakes will engage educators in a review of the research and model the process for teachers to experience.
